Mary “Irene” Flanagan (nee Johnston)
Passed away peacefully in her 94th year on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Cherished mother of Mary Anne Chappell (Paul), Wendy Flanagan (Bruce Short), and Jayne Truttenbach (Horst). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Andrew (Zoey), Alexandra, Kenneth, Meredith, David (Jinny), Steven (Ryan), Catherine (Nathan), and Caroline. Great-grand children Stefan, Theodore, Olivia, Cassandra, William, Ava and Connor.
Predeceased by siblings Ann, Stewart and Joan. Irene was a long time employee of Picker X-Ray in Bramalea, working as The Supervising Cost Accountant. Irene had many talents and interests: She was a long time member of the St. Andrew’s Scottish Country Dancing Club in Brampton; an avid participant in the activities at Flowercity Seniors Centre in Brampton. Irene designed and sewed figure skating costumes, Scottish highland and country dance costumes, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses and graduation dresses. Her talents were widely recognized and sought out.
The family will receive friends at the Ward Funeral Home (Brampton Chapel) 52 Main Street South, Brampton on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Meadowvale cemetery (7732 Mavis Road, Brampton.) As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to a charity of choice.
To safely manage and adhere to current social distancing requirements, please RSVP for the visitation and service. Wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone remains mandatory as per provincial regulations.
