Helen Jehn Klonowski 2021

Helen Jehn / Klonowski
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Helen Jehn / Klonowski, on Friday, June the 18th, 2021 at the North York General Hospital in Toronto.
Helen is survived by her second husband Louis, children John (Kim), George, Fred (Susan), Mira and her sister Marysia. Predeceased by her first husband Kazimierz, her mother Anastazia, her father Andrzej and sisters, Jean and Irene. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Justin and Meagan (Oliver) along with countless numbers of nieces and nephews from the Batuszkin, Cescon and Paul families. Helen lived an extraordinary and full life to say the least. Born in Poland in 1929, she was a young girl of 14 when interned by the Germans during WWII to work in a Concentration Camp in Germany. While interned, she met her first husband Kazimierz who was also interned and taken from Poland. After being liberated in Germany, they married and immigrated to Canada where Kazimierz worked in a gold mine for three years in Val-d’Or, Quebec. Helen always had strong family ties and worried about her family back in Europe. While in Quebec she sponsored her eldest sister Jean, husband Alex and son John and brought them to Quebec. They all moved to Toronto and started families. Helen was not finished with sponsoring family and friends; she then sponsored her mother Anastazia and younger sister Irene to Toronto. After a ten-year search, she found her third sister in 1960 and sponsored Marysia, husband Vasil, two children Peter and Irene. Helen’s selfless, giving nature continued throughout her lifetime. She sponsored a total of 87 family members and friends to Canada so they could each have the opportunity to start a new life. Working two jobs in her earlier years during the day, she started to invest in the real estate market in the 60’s. A time period where there were few women investing in real estate. This new endeavour for her proved to be very successful and lucrative which she then taught each one of her children from a very young age. She also instilled her love for Wasaga Beach and Florida to all of her family. This way, they too could enjoy a betterment for their lives ahead.
To know Helen was a gift. A timeless woman of love, grace and a strong will that never gave up. In our hearts she will forever remain.
The family will be having a private Visitation at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home on Tuesday June 22, 2021. The Funeral Mass will Take place on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 11am, Burial to take place at Mount Hope Cemetery.
