This is the story of Jennifer Anne (née Brown) Glennon. Her story started on September 5, 1974, in Richmond BC where she arrived into the arms of Terry and Shirley Brown, and was welcomed by her two brothers, Peter and Jeffrey. The family lived in a small village in the lower mainland, called Ladner. Before Jenny was three her dad and mom opened a family business, called TJ’s Restaurant. This shaped Jenny’s life as she and her brothers were a big part of running the business. Jen would say, “Yah, I started working when I was nine years old.” She did, in fact she stood at the till with her infectious smile and batted her big brown eyes, and raked in the tips! As a youngster, Jenny happily followed her brother Jeff everywhere and idolized her older brother Peter. She had a happy childhood and established many lifelong friends during her years in Ladner. She graduated in 1992 from Delta Secondary School with honours in Culinary Arts. As a young girl, Jennifer loved her dog Eddy, her cat Bo, and baseball. She proudly pitched many a game for the Ladner Invaders Girls’ Softball team. She loved ‘mudding’ (driving their trucks through the creeks and up mountains) with her teenage friends, and especially with her boyfriend Niles, who was tragically taken from us in 1993.
In 2004, Jenny with her husband Chris and their two small children, Cole and Paige moved to Westbank, BC. Jenny loved the Okanagan, and as her children were growing up, she was often referred to as “Momma Brown” to her children’s friends. She worked a few different jobs before taking the Social Service Program at VCC in 2015. Soon after graduation, she landed a position with the Kelowna Gospel Mission. This became Jenny’s second family; her job was her passion and she took great pride in her work. One of her peers described her as always practising compassion and ‘radical acceptance’ of the residents and people struggling with life on the streets. Her ready smile, high energy, and encouraging presence were important leadership qualities that were greatly appreciated by her Doyle Shelter team.
Jennifer (aka Jen, Jenny, Bear, Mom, Momma Brown, or Worm – as she was called by her Daddy when she was growing up) loved fearlessly.
Jenny will be loved, missed, and always cherished by her parents, Terry & Shirley; her brothers Peter (Deanna) and Jeff (Rachelle); the heart and joy of her life… her children Cole and Paige, and her granddaughter Harper. She also leaves behind numerous extended families and all the people whose lives she touched on her life journey.
“God must have needed another angel”.
On August 4, 2021, she transcended into Heaven – Jennifer’s final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sanctuary Gardens (by invitation only due to Covid restrictions). The service will be Livestreamed online to distillmedia.ca/jenbrown (Recommend using Google Chrome) on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2021, at 2:00 PM PDT for all those who would like to pay their respects but are unable to attend in person.
