Giuseppe Joe

Giuseppe Joe Cutro 2021

Guiseppe “Joe” Cutro passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2021, after battling cancer for the last year, with the love of his life, his Lena, by his side.
Joe had been diagnosed with cancer almost 12 years ago. Some of the battles he experienced over the years almost took him from us. But he was a fighter and we count our blessings that we got an extra 12 years with him on this earth to make many memories and love him for his passion and flair for life! He fought to the end for his family.
Joe was one of two children and he immigrated to Cobourg in 1974 from Sicily, Italy at the age of 20. On May 10, 1975, he married the love of his life Lena (Trizzino) having met her while she was on vacation with her family in Sicily. They had two daughters, Michelle and Sylvia and he supported his family as a mason for many years before branching off and starting his own company.
There was nothing Joe loved more than his family, a good glass of wine, his golf, some Italian food and Italian music. But, there was much more to Joe. Joe was a kind man, with an electric personality. He attracted people with his smile, quick wit and contagious laugh. He enjoyed the outdoors (for golfing!), he loved the winters (indoor golfing and travelling to golf!) and he loved the summers (for golfing!). But his annual golf trip with the guys was something he always looked forward to. He and Lena travelled regularly to many different countries and enjoyed all that life had to offer them – whether a trip to Cuba (golfing!), a romantic cruise with friends or a trip home to Italy. Many wonderful memories were made while travelling alone and with friends. He was an irreplaceable friend to all who knew him.
A man of many talents and interests, Joe’s friends may have known him for one or two specific endeavors, but there was so much more to him than most knew. In his earlier years he lived in Germany with his parents and is fluent in German. He played soccer as a youngster and also played on a men’s team in Cobourg. He loved watching his beloved Juventus Football (aka soccer) Club on TV. Nothing could come between the time he spent with his grandkids – which was everything to him.
Joe was the quintessential “sharp dressed man” from the time he was just a boy. Handsome, dapper, and always perfectly put together, he loved clothes and accessories and was undoubtedly one of the best dressed men any of us have ever known!
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lena of 46 years, his daughters Michelle (Gilbert) and Sylvia (Paolo). His grandchildren Cruz, Ryder, Knox, Victoria and Massimo and his sister Nina (Vincenzo), brother’s in law Carm (Karen) and Joey (Robin) and by his nieces, nephews – Rosalia (Leo, Matteo, Nicholas, Chantelle), Mary (Dino, Giulia, Anthony) and Ashley (Joe), David (Maryann), Rebecca and Jenna (Jacob). Predeceased by his parents Gaspare and Giuseppa and in-laws, Giuseppe and Rosalia.
His love of life and family will continue in the hearts of his family and everyone he has touched. Your thoughts and prayers for our Guiseppe and family are greatly appreciated.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Mule, the nursing staff in the Cancer Unit of the Northumberland Hills Hospital and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth’s. They took care of our Joe with such care and compassion. We could not have asked for a better team. As Joe died during the COVID lockdown and many of his friends did not get to see him while he was sick, have comfort in knowing he wanted you to know he will miss you all.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 21, 2021. Guests wishing to attend the visitation must register online for their time period.
A private Mass of Christian Burial for invited guests will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cobourg.
Donations to the NHH Foundation Cancer Unit or Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Giuseppe Joe
