Obituary For Gisele Madeleine Lewchuk
Gisele Lewchuk, resident of Spirit River, AB, formerly of Montreal, QC, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 82 years.
Gisele Dubuc was born October 25, 1939, in Plessisville, QC. She was raised in Montreal, where she attended Ecole Ste Rose. She worked for Bell Telephone and was trained as a nurse’s assistant. She travelled to Alberta in 1961 where she was employed at the Spirit River Holy Cross Hospital until 1965. She married Alex Lewchuk in 1966, in Montreal and they raised their three sons on the Lewchuk farm. She was extremely active in the Spirit River community throughout her life, volunteering for the Hospital Auxiliary, MD Library, Happy Hour Club, TOPS, and many more. She loved travelling with friends and went to Cuba, the UK, Alaska, New York, and across Canada.
Gisele was known for her French accent and her dedication to volunteer work in the Spirit River Community. She was a kind, giving spirit. She enjoyed square dancing, church choir, collecting spoons and stamps, and her pen pals across the globe. She loved cats, Sunday drives, and knitting.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Kevin Lewchuk, and Brian Lewchuk; grandchildren: Megan Lewchuk and Heather Lewchuk; sister in-law Mary Lewchuk, daughter in-law Leyan Lewchuk, as well as all of her brothers, sisters, and extended family in Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Gisele was predeceased by her husband Alex Lewchuk, son Richard Lewchuk, and daughter Suzanne Lewchuk.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.)
Interment will follow at 2:00pm, at Spirit River Cemetery.
