It is with heavy hearts we announce that Alfred (Alf) Gill passed away in his 90th year on Monday October 25, 2021 after a brief illness surrounded by his family. Devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years Beverley Charie. Loving father of the late Pamela (Chris Key), Laura (Mike Davies), Wanda (Maurice Chalifoux) and Kristina. Proud Grandfather of Bryan, Allyson, Jessie, Emily, Alexandre, Jeremy, Gabrielle, Hayley and Olivia. Great grandfather of Riley, Zoley, Thomas, Nialla-Rose and Eliyana. Cherished brother of Elinor, Raymond, Dorothy, and Carol. Predeceased by his sisters Shirley and Joan.
Alf enjoyed a 34-year career as an Accountant (CGA) for Nortel Networks and then retired for as many. Alf was a natural leader, always eager to lend a hand in any way he could. He spent his time volunteering for countless organizations including the Kirkland 55 plus and the Pierrefonds Friendship Clubs. One of his favorite pastimes in his later years was calling the bingo for many of the clubs he was a member of. He was also an active member of St. Michael and All Angels Church. He was an avid sportsman, a lifelong golfer, and a huge fan of his beloved Alouettes, Expos and Canadians. One of his great joys was spending summers at the trailer in Burlington, Vermont with his siblings and their families. Loved by all that met him, he will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Voluntas Funeral Home, 4695 St-Jean Blvd., DDO on Friday November 5, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 followed by a service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Michael and All Angels Church 15556 Rue Cabot, Pierrefonds, H9H 1R5.
