GERARD “GERRY” SNYDERS
It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Gerard “Gerry” Snyders. Gerry passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 13th, three days short of his 79th birthday. Gerry was the beloved husband of Marie Rose, to whom he was happily married to for 56 years. Gerry lived life the way he wanted and was blessed to live within 10 kilometres of all his children and grandchildren. He was able to spend quality time with them, imparting his wisdom whenever the moment arose. Gerry also enjoyed many conversations and discussions with friends over a cup of tea, whether sitting at a kitchen table, on a porch or at a local coffee shop. Gerry’s friends were an important part of his life and daily routine. Although Gerry and Rose moved off the farm nine years ago, Gerry was a farmer at heart and looked forward to helping with the spring and fall field work, cultivating or operating the Lemken. Gerry’s love of farming was inherited from his parents. Gerry immigrated with his parents and siblings from the Netherlands in 1951 and was extremely proud of his Dutch heritage.
Gerry’s love and legacy will live on in his children, Jacqueline Timmermans (Andy), Doug Snyders (Marianne), Wayne Snyders (Shannon) and Shawn Snyders (Melissa). He shared his knowledge freely with his grandchildren, and will be immensely missed by Marcel, Spencer, Sydney and April, Ben, Luke and Jake, Julia, Jack and Joseph and Sam and Molly.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Leny Gremmen, Mary Deloyer, Tina Van Berkel, Joe Snyders, Anna Marie Sleegers (Harry) and Jack Snyders (Irena). Dear brother-in-law of Columba Snyders, Toni Snyders, Frank Vanhevel (Elaine), Paula Jansen (John) and Christine DeGroot. Gerry’s family was extensive, here in Canada and abroad. Gerry will be forever cherished by his cousin Leo and Els Snyders in the Netherlands.
Predeceased by his parents Laurens and Johanna Snyders, brothers Tony and John, sister Wilhemina Van Lanen (Piet), brothers-in-law Gerry Gremmen, Harry Deloyer, John Berkvens, John Van Berkel, Tony DeGroot and sister-in-law Jane Snyders.
