Frederick George Blacklock
Frederick G. Blacklock, 89, of
Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday,
May 18, 2021.
Born in Saint John, he was the
son of the late Frederick and Louella (Folkins)
Blacklock.
Fred was retired from the
Parts Department at General Motors with 36 years’ service.
He was a member of Mountain View United Church, a former choir member,
Clerk of Sessions, Treasurer and Elder. A former Scout Master, he was
involved with the Cubs and was a former Volunteer at the Karing
Kitchen. An avid curler and bridge player, he was a former member of
the Beaver Curling Club and enjoyed working around his home and
property, going to the exercise room to use the treadmill and spending
time with his children and grandchildren. Fred was a loving son,
husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather.
Fred will be sadly missed by
his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Bunn) Blacklock; daughter, Karen Geldart
(Ken) of Moncton; son, Gregory Blacklock (Irma) of Elsipogtog First
Nation; grandchildren, Melissa, Sara, Rachel and Julie; seven great
grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Leggett of Rothesay and several nieces,
nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by his brother, Gordon.
A Service to celebrate and
honour Fred’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home
Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Saturday, May 22,
2021 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Debra Baker leading the service. Interment
will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. COVID-19 restrictions will be
in place and wearing a mask is mandatory.
