Obituary of Frances Clarke
It is with great sadness the family of Frances Clarke of Port au Bras announce her passing on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the US Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence at the age of 91 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Melvin of Port au Bras and Herbert (Adelaide) of Port au Bras; daughters Letta Pike (Sidney) of Bull’s Cove, Geraldine Hooper (Walter) of Marystown and Brenda Lickoch (Edward) of Luduc, AB; a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by husband Gerald and sons Robert and Chesley.
Frances lived alone since her husband’s passing and raised her family and worked at the Fish Plant in Burin. She was a strong willed woman who done things her way. She loved to play bingo and play cards. (Sometimes she would cheat to win but not often). She loved company the more the merrier, when no one was visiting she was often heard to say “come on door open”. Feeding the ducks was one of her favorite things to do and often fed them her homemade buns. Her bird feeders were always full, she made sure to have lots of bird seed on hand. Her feeders were kept full by her good friend Brian Abbott who also emptied her dehumidifier for her. He spent many hours keeping her company, she bought special treats for him and she loved him dearly. Frances was a very faithful lady and loved to see Rev. James visit and was known to say ” the good man is here.” Her family will miss the sound of her laughter and her quick and witty replies to them. She had a answer for everything.
Resting at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin on Monday, June 7th, 2021 from 2-4PM (family only) and then open for family and friends from 7-9PM and Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
Funeral service will take place from Serenity Chapel on Wednesday, June 9th , 2021 at 2PM with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Port au Bras. Anyone wanting to attend funeral please notify family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
