Obituary of Elma Gagen
Gagen, Elma died peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. She was in her 103rd year. Born in New Liskeard, Ontario on November 29, 1918 to Wilmot and Priscilla Reid. She grew up in Copenhagen. Beloved wife of the late Bev Gagen(Dec. 2006). Predeceased by her brothers John, Dave and Ervin Reid. Survived by her sister Marjorie Stevens of RR1 Brownsville. Also survived by nieces and nephews Peggy Langley(Bruce), Jack Reid(Carol), Frances Legg, Terry Reid(Betty), Geraldine Brisbois, Donna Reid(Late Wayne), Dave Stevens(Lorraine), Lynne Breddy, Mary Scott(Dwight) and many great nieces and nephews. Elma lived in St. Thomas and worked in the office at the Carnation Milk Plant for over 35 years. After retiring, she joined the St. Thomas Senior Centre; first, enjoying seniors slow pitch ball team, then onto seniors clogging, which became her passion. The “Twilight Cloggers” entertained at nursing and retirement homes until she was 88. Before COVID, Elma enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Harvest Retirement Home and always tapping her toes at their “Happy Hour” music. She was still an avid reader. An inspiration to us all. Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 7:00-9:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Interment, Springfield Cemetery. Donations to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
