Wood, Elburn James Robert
May 6th, 1933- September 22nd, 2021
Passed away peacefully in his 89th year with his loved ones by his side. Elburn was an employee of Beatty Tire and Goodyear Tire. He was a life long resident and retired dairy farmer of Keeneview Holsteins and Keeneview Herefords. Loving and devoted husband of 71 years on Canada Day to his wife Gloria Mary Wood. Cherished father of Evelyn Keays (Bob), Sharon Sloan (Steve), and Brenda Howard (Doug). Loving Grandfather of Jeffrey Keays (Christina), Jennifer Bassett-Spiers (Matt), Ryan Sloan (Amy), Deanna Archer (Bob), Kayla Berardi (Charlie), and Kory Howard (Jess). Great-Grandfather of Sierra, Cameron, Jacob, Cody, Shane, Ethan, Owen, Easton, and Bryce. Brother of Thelma McNevan (Doug), Cliff Wood (Betty). Brother-in-law of Barbara Kelly (the late Ron Kelly), and Isabel (Phil) Meagher. Elburn is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Doreen Wood. He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Elburn was such a wonderful person and his kindness, generosity, appreciation and value of the simple and most important things in life shone through in his smile.
He was hardworking and adored by many. Elburn was a member of the Antique Car Club and enjoyed taking his model “A” Ford to many parades and car shows. Elburn enjoyed spending leisure time with family and friends at the family cottage on Kosh Lake known as Woods Island.
Thank you to all the PSW’s from Care Partners, CBI, St. Elizabeth and to all the Palliative Care team doctors and nurses. A huge thank you to C2 and D2 nursing staff. A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired donations can be made to the PRHC Foundation- Cath Lab, or a charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. The North Woods
Up in the north where the wild wind blows,
And the loon sings out loud and clear,
There’s a peace comes to me that is good for my soul,
And God is in everything near.
The pine gives its fragrance,
The Waves play a tune,
And over the stillness,
The light of the moon.
The stars are so bright,
And so low in the skies,
Makes me feel small and humble,
And know God is wise.
The deer in the thicket,
The fish in the bay,
A test to God’s goodness,
And his wonderous way.
Oh give me the north woods,
If you need peace of mind,
And to all God’s goodness,
The way you will find.
