Obituary
An exceptional man has passed on, but he will never leave us.
Duane died in the early morning of Saturday, July 17, 2021, gently released from the ravages caused by cancer. He was the beloved husband of Leona (Leeck) for more than 55 years and son of Kenneth and Phyllis (Lewis) King.
He was the younger brother of Norman King (Shirley) of Picture Butte, and older brother to Janet Bennett (Westley) of St. Paul, Ab. The cherished brother-in-law to Beverly Leeck ( M i c h a e l Langlands) of Edmonton, Dianne Larko (Terry) of High River, and Christine Joll of Dallas, Tx. Always the proud uncle to his nieces and nephews and their spouses. He held a special place in his heart for Alessia Giovetti of Italy, who was like a daughter to him. He was blessed with a special cousin, Phil Lewis and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Kenneth and Phyllis (Lewis) K i n g , and brother-in-law Edward Leeck.
Duane was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital and spent most of his years farming in the Picture Butte area. When he retired and moved to Lethbridge he created the back yard oasis to stay in touch with the earth. He was a collector of most anything and an avid reader.
Duane’s kind and caring personality will remain in our memories forever.
In his memory you might consider planting a perennial garden or hanging a birdhouse or feeder. And above all, perform a random act of kindness.
A family celebration of life is being planned.
