Doris Anderson 2021

Doris’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Anderson announce her sudden passing on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the age of 86 years.
Doris Anna Matilda Anderson was the second child of Ernest and Anna (Nylen) Ericson, born on August 11, 1934. She grew up in Minnedosa, MB, where she worked as a bank teller before moving to Norquay when she married the love of her life, Lloyd. Even though she was a town girl, she quickly grew to love farm life and country living. Where Lloyd was, Doris was happy. This gives her family much comfort knowing that she is once again reunited with him in the presence of God. The light had gone out of their mom’s eyes when their dad passed a month ago.
Doris was a fiercely proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for her family knew no bounds.
Doris was known for being an exceptional cook. It is to be noted that when they were first married, Lloyd claimed she couldn’t even burn toast – Doris agreed with that assessment of her early cooking skills whole heartedly! She loved to care for those around her by providing meals, baking, and hospitality. No visit to the Anderson farm was complete without a delicious meal or tasty treat with coffee. The grandchildren took great delight in discovering what treasures Grandma had hidden in the two massive deep freezes in the basement! The first breakfast of every visit to the farm was comprised of all-you-can-eat Swedish pancakes and yummy cinnamon knots. Her deliveries of meals to the harvest crew were always highly anticipated!
She was an amazing musician who blessed her church and community with her talents on the piano and organ throughout her life. Self-taught, she began playing in the Minnedosa Covenant Church at the age of twelve.
Doris was also a gifted artisan who picked up and mastered new crafts constantly. Hardanger, knitting, crocheting, painting, scrapbooking, and sewing to name a few. It must be noted that the kids did not appreciate Doris’s jean-making skills. Not only did she put initials and the farm brand on the pockets, the material used was durable enough to cover the wings of the space shuttle! It was not an easy look to pull off as teenagers.
Lloyd and Doris lived a life of generous giving. Their family, church, and community all were blessed by this ability to share what the Lord had given to them. Unknown to many, Doris was often the initiator of these acts of kindness.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Anna; husband, Lloyd; sister, Gwen; and brothers-in-law, Art and Elgie.
She is survived by her brother, Fred (Marj); sisters, Jean and Edith (Dennis); daughter, Pat (Delwyn) and her family: Matthew (Chris); Nathan (Emily) Ezra, Lucy, Murphy, and Davie; Christopher; daughter, Janice (Greg) and her family: Michael; Courtney (Rob), Charlotte, Sebastian, and Connor; and her son, Mark (Juanita) and his family: Erin (Michael), Lloyd; Joshua (Brooke), and Elliot.
A Private Visitation will be held from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK. A Private Graveside Service will be live streamed at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, from the Norquay Covenant Church Cemetery, Norquay, SK, with Pastor Arden Gustafson officiating. A Public Memorial Service will be held in the fall 2021. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Covenant Heights Bible Camp – c/o Norquay Covenant Church, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Doris Anderson. Doris and Lloyd’s love story began at this camp and continued to be an important part of their family’s lives.
