Obituary of Donald Paul Nabigon
NABIGON, Donald Paul (August 5, 1963 – October 10, 2021) With family by his side, Donald started his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday October 10, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
Donald was born on August 5, 1963 and raised in Pic River First Nation. He worked in various jobs in the area and in Winnipeg. Eventually settling in Sudbury where he worked for C.P.R. until illness forced his retirement. Donald and Sheila then moved to Pic River where he resided until his death.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Sheila; sons Ben (Amanda), Steven (Jessica), Gabe and Adam. His grandchildren Joshua, Sheila and Lily-Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Duncan, Bill and Peter and by his sisters-in-law Annie, Johanna, Donna and Sweets; his Uncle Arthur Fisher and numerous cousins.
Donald was met at the Rainbow Bridge by his best friend Bullet. Together, they travelled onwards to be welcomed by Don’s mom Monica, dad Clem and siblings; twin Mary, Virginia, Celine, Herb, Ronnie and Dorothy along with many other family members. Clem Nabigon’s family circle is now complete in the Spirit World.
A service for Donald will be held on Thursday October 14, 2021 at 12:00 noon at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Biigtigong Nishnaabeg. Reverend Jerome Nnanna officiating. Cremation will follow at River’s Edge Cremation Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
With current conditions, the service at the church will be for immediate family ONLY. Arrangements are being made for a live online stream for Donald’s other family and friends to be a part of the service.
Don will be returning home on Wednesday October 13, 2021. A wake will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on that day for family and friends to pay their final respects.
