Donald “Donnie” Melvin Dealy
1946 – 2021
Donald “Donnie” Melvin Dealy, husband of Nancy (Sobey) Dealy, passed away at the Miramich Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the age of 75. He was the son of the late Tyler and Margaret (Matthews) Dealy.
In addition to his wife, Nancy of 48 years, Donnie is survived by his daughter: Kelly Webber; granddaughter: Samantha Dawn Webber and her father: Tim Webber; his sister: Barbara Craddock (John); Sister in law: Wilma Shephard; brothers in law: Alastair Sobey and Ian Sobey (Karen); nephews: Brad Sobey (Wendy), Todd Sobey (Tina) and Mark Craddock; great nephews: Ben, Cooper and Jax Sobey; great niece: Mariah Sobey.
Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by Helen Pozer and Herb Shephard.
Donnie grew up in Chatham, NB, but lived the past 52 years in Calgary, AB. He spent his entire career working in the electrical industry and was well known and respected by those with whom he worked.
Donnie was an avid sports fan. Growing up he was a pole vaulter in track and field and played baseball and hockey. He was a diehard Calgary Flames fan. Donnie and Nancy spent their summers on the Miramichi, where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Donnie was very proud of his daughter, Kelly and his greatest joy in life was his granddaughter, Samantha. He loved watching her participate in all of her activities and was so proud of her.
By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Miramichi on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
Please note: All attendees must provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at the church for the funeral service, as well as mandatory mask and physical distancing in all indoor spaces.
As expressions of sympathy, in Donnie’s memory, donations may be made to Ups and Downs Calgary Down Syndrome Association – upsdowns.org, The PREP Program – prepprogram.ca or Super HEROS Hockey Program – heroshockey.com/programs/super-heros

A memorial will be held in Donnie’s honor in Calgary, at a later date to be determined.

  1. Our deepest condolences go out to Nancy, Kelly, and the Family. Donnie ‘Duck’ was a great friend since early childhood in Chatham. A wonderful guy, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him!

  2. I’m sorry for your loss. Don was a mentor of mine as young man at Westburne. Also was taught me a lot on the golf course.
