Donald Deblois Leonard
1926-2021
Donald Leonard passed away at Shannex Thomas Hall on January
7, 2021. He is survived by his son Jim and his wife Jill of
Fredericton, daughter Jane of Newton, Massachusetts, USA, two sisters,
Lynn Partridge of Halifax, NS, and Jean Powley of Regina,
SK.
Don was predeceased by his wife Elaine (nee Rankine) in 2018,
his parents, Marion and Harold Leonard of Halifax, NS, brothers,
Darrell of Moncton, NB, and Alden of Lower Sackville,
NS.
Don was born in Fredericton on August 21, 1926. Don and
Elaine were married in 1950. Summers were spent in speed boats and
canoes at Lake George or touring on the Harley. Don was passionate
about cars and he enjoyed many years at Lawson Motors in Fredericton.
Don was a colorectal and prostate cancer survivor.
No flowers or visitation at Don’s request.
Donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Canada, Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Saint
Paul’s United Church in Fredericton (CanadaHelps.org), or to
the charity of the donor’s choice. A private family commitment will
take place at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery.
A sincere thank you to Colleen Laagland, our extended family
member, who provided companionship, encouragement, laughs and care to
Don in his final years.
A special thank you to the staff at Thomas Hall for the
kindness and care that they gave Don.
