Obituary
Smith, Donald Glen … Passed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital, on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Ruth Smith for 61 years. Donald is survived by his sisters Betty Cross of Roslin, ON, Barbara Bamber of Belleville, ON and their families. Don and Ruth met in 1954 at Bata Shoe in Batawa. Later he worked at Invar Manufacturing until his retirement. Upon his retirement Don took up the guitar. He played and sang at Hastings Manor every week with his group of friends to a much appreciative crowd – his musical talents were well looked forward to each Thursday at the Manor. Don also played at many local Country Jamborees. Don loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting and his many outdoors toys. Don loved his motorcycle. He loved to tour North America with his wife Ruth. They traveled coast to coast in Canada and even made a few trips to the United States. Don and Ruth greatly enjoyed time at their cottage in Bancroft and spending time on the lake where he made many friends. Don and Ruth had many dogs throughout their life; he always had a four legged companion by his side. The family would like to thank all of Don’s caregivers at Belleville General Hospital for all of their wonderful support. A private visitation and service will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2021 and a Burial to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Quinte Humane Society in Donald’s memory. Online Condolences and Tributes can be made and found at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com.
