Dolores Emma McDonald Sunday September 19th 2021

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Dolores McDonald, née Beauparlant, on September 19th, 2021.
Born February 4, 1933 in St-Charles to Mederic and Amelia Beauparlant (predeceased). She leaves her 5 children, Sandra Mason (Michael), Dave McDonald (Jeannine), Margo Loney (Terry), Frances Laking (Robin), and Roxane Zuck (Brent). She was the proud and loving supportive Grandmanman to Matthew Mason (Elandri) Taylor-Ann Sisk (Luke), Joshua Mason (Natalie), Courtney Stepp (Jared), Jeffrey McDonald (Jessica), Jaime-Lynn Luck (Aaron) Kristina Petitclerc, and Mathew Petitclerc. Kyle Loney (Ainslie), Ali Catherwood (Michael), Lauren Kennedy (Braden), William Laking, Taggart Zuck and Tessa Zuck. She was fortunate enough to be the Grandmaman to 18 beautiful great-grandchildren: Aydalee, Jasper, Amelia, Annabelle, Charlie, Rosie, Madison, Emma, Seamus, Finneghan, Adelaide, Audrey, Cadence, Connor, Arden, Rowan, George, and Thomas. She was also mother in-law to Joann Hanley.
She was sister and sister-in-law to Raymond and Lou Beauparlant (predeceased) Basil (predeceased) and Connie Beauparlant, Joyce and Larry Forget (predeceased) Patsy and Fernand LaFortune (predeceased) Francoise and Bernard Bouffard, Ted Beauparlant and Claudette Gatien, Joanne Beauparlant and Paul Adam, Richard and Leslie Beauparlant and Denis and Nicole Beauparlant. Special sister-in-law to the McDonald clan, Patrick (predeceased) and Therese, Fred and Monique (predeceased), Marg Fitzsimmons (Jim, predeceased), Bill (predeceased) and Rolande, Brian and Fernande, Donald (predeceased) and Claire, D’Arcy and Carol (predeceased) and Mary and Ed Rampado.
She leaves behind many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family and was known to many of the other kids that hung out at the McDonald’s camp as ‘Aunt Do’ or ‘ma tante Do’. She also leaves behind a great community of friends on Kukagami Lake and especially her dear friend Colette Conlon and family.
Mom worked hard all her life, starting as a teacher, business owner and ended her career at the Co-Operator’s Insurance as a sales agent. She prided herself in remembering all of her client’s names and stories and shopping would often take twice as long as she had to stop and talk to everyone she knew, plus those she didn’t yet know. Dolores volunteered for many different organizations and associations throughout her life including Sudbury Public Health, Board of Directors, Kukagami Camper’s Association and the M.S. Society, Sudbury Chapter. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with and was not afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground. Mom cherished her time at her camp and home on Kukagami Lake for many years and she was able to retire and live there year-round for 24 years and was most proud of her flower gardens. She was able to spend her last days overlooking Klondike Bay with her family around her.
Many thanks to Candace, Dr. Hayes, and the staff at Oak Lodge for the months of exceptional care and compassion that they provided. As well a thank you to the Bayshore nurses, Dustin and Jenna, who came out to Kukagami Lake, to support her in the end. The family would also like to thank the staff of 111 Larch Street and a special thanks to Betty Ann and her staff at Kuppa Joe for all the attention and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kukagami Camper’s Association (email margoloney50@gmail.com) or One Eleven Senior Citizens’ Centre in Sudbury, would be appreciated.
A celebration of Dolores’ life will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021 at 1pm. (Friends may gather after 12:30pm Thursday in the chapel, where face masks are mandatory; after the service, a reception will be held.)
