Dieter J Decker February 15th 1943 December 25th 2021

Dieter J. Decker, aged 78, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning surrounded by his family. A resident of Sarnia, Ontario, Dieter was born in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1952. He graduated from The Ohio State University and was a veteran of the United States Military. Dieter would go on to embark on an extremely successful business career that culminated in him founding Herbal Magic Weight Loss Systems, which he ultimately grew to over 350 centres across Canada and the US with his wife Anne, before selling the business and retiring in 2003. Dieter spent his years in retirement travelling the world and nourishing his love and passion for fishing. Dieter enjoyed entertaining for family, friends and loved ones and hosted numerous events and parties while a resident of Corunna. Dieter also pursued philanthropic endeavours and gave generously to cancer research. He is survived by his wife, Anne, sister and brother-in-law Carla and Tony Luzio, his sons Kurt, Geoff and Arie and his daughter and son-in-law Caitlin and Matthew Dumas. In respect of Dieter’s wishes, no funeral will be held. Friends and relatives wishing to pay their respects are encouraged to visit smithfuneralhome.ca and share their condolences and stories on Dieter’s page. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia or the Sarnia Humane Society. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Lilly’s Palliative Care Team, the nurses of the VON, E-shift and Care Partners of Sarnia, who’s dedication allowed Dieter to spend his final weeks at home.
