Diane Mary Nadeau
December 15, 1964 – July 06, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of the incredibly beautiful soul that was Diane (LeFave) Nadeau. Diane passed away peacefully with her family by her side July 6th, 2021, at the Dartmouth General Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer, a cancer that was never able to extinguish her love for life.
While Diane had many accomplishments in life, none made her prouder than her daughters, Emilie Laura and Sylvie Ann (both of Dartmouth). She would look at them and beam at their great sense of humour, passion for social issues and generous, kind nature. The apples didn’t fall far from the tree. I don’t think any of us can argue that Diane had all those qualities. She loved her daughters more than anything and wanted that fact reiterated that after she was gone. Don’t worry Diane, they know.
Diane was born December 15, 1964, to the late Hubert LeFave and Leah (Leslie) LeFave (Dartmouth). Diane loved talking and spending time with her parents, which was evident by the nightly phone calls, a tradition her daughters have since stepped in and carried on. This makes Grammie very happy . Diane idolized her sisters Karen LeFave and Cathy Clarke, her entire life. Her sisters were the constant in her life, the ones she followed around as child and loved to get together with as an adult. As a little girl, Diane would go with her parents and visit the seniors at Victoria Hall and sing for them. When she would finish a song and received the applause she would always follow up with “I know another one”. She just loved to please people. She had a huge heart (only Diane could cry at an Ikea commercial), that’s just who she was, and we love that.
Diane retired from the Nova Scotia Hospital after 30 years of service. She was dedicated to her co-workers but most importantly the residents. She developed her strongest friendships there, that lasted the entirety of her career and beyond. “Her girls” (and you know who you are) meant so much to her. Their love and support did not go unnoticed. After retirement, Diane found her true love in employment. The Church of Saint Andrew. She loved, loved, loved the congregation and had so much love and admiration for Archdeacon Katherine.
At this time, I would like to try and sum up who Diane really was, the non-demographic stuff. Diane was a wickedly funny person, everything related to a Seinfeld moment. She was competitive (though she would deny that), she is the only person I know that could turn Wheel of Fortune into a competitive sport, which I often lost, even when I didn’t (I know how to pick my battles). She loved food, and truly felt her blood type might be 70% Cocoa, with a hint of mint. She loved her Gracie Girl (cat), who in turn loved her just as much. What made her life complete was her daughters, Jean, her family and “her girls”. All these things fulfilled her. She loved to laugh, face hurting ugly laugh. We did that so often. Diane was at total peace knowing that she had received “the call”. Her goal the evening before she passed was to keep me laughing and encourage me that we would be ok. Well Diane, you incredibly beautiful soul, we will be ok, we just will never be the same. We love you more than anything and you will forever be in our hearts.
A service for Diane will be held at the Church of Saint Andrew July 24, 2021 at 1pm. Due to Covid restrictions we regret that the service is by invitation only. This page will be updated with a zoom link for those who wish to attend virtually.
