Daniel Augustine Dan Bradshaw 1947 2021

Obituary of Daniel Augustine Bradshaw
We are saddened to announce the passing of Dan Bradshaw, age 73, on February 8th, 2021, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on May 31,1947 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Sarto J. and Gwen (Deal) Bradshaw.
A well-respected businessman, Dan worked for over 50 years in his own business, Antigonish Insurance. He treated his clients and staff with respect and kindness. He was a dedicated professional, and served two terms as director of the Nova Scotia Insurance Brokers Board.
Dan was very community-oriented and generous with his time. When his children were involved in 4-H, he volunteered for many years as a 4-H Leader for the Lower South River club. He was honoured by the Leaders Council for his dedication to the program.
Behind Dan’s quiet, gentle demeanour was a charming, witty, and adventurous spirit. He and Barb loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. But Dan was always happiest at his cottage in East Tracadie, where he loved reading, watching fishing boats and marine life, and enjoying spectacular sunsets at the end of the day. Dan especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren around the bonfire at their beloved cottage.
Dan is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of over 50 years, Barb (McGrath); and children, Carey (Darin) Hann and daughter, Sophia, Halifax; Todd (Karen Brenton), Cloverdale, Nova Scotia; Craig (Mindy MacDougall) and children Hayden and Hudson, Antigonish; Jason (Mya Young) and daughter, Maddy, Calgary. Dan is also survived by sisters Kay (Ed) McAlduff, Antigonish; Mary (Ed) Gesner, Halifax; Gwen (Daniel) MacIsaac, Antigonish; and brother Michael (Maureen) Bradshaw, Antigonish; and aunt, Sister Virginia Deal, Sisters of Charity, Halifax; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Pauline.
The family extends a special thank you to long-time family doctor, Dr. Patsy McKenna, as well as to the Antigonish and Area Homemakers, and to the staff of ICU and PCU at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral mass will be held Friday, February 12th at 1 p.m. in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Tracadie, Nova Scotia. Donations in Dan’s memory may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation or to Antigonish County 4-H Leaders Council. Please note: COVID-19 protocols will be in place at visitation and funeral mass. Seating is limited to 100 in the church and will be first come/first served.
