Chesley (Ches) Dalton, age 74, of Little Catalina passed peacefully away surrounded by loving family on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Golden Heights Manor in Bonavista.
He was preceded in death by parents Thomas and Nellie Dalton, sister Cavelle Faulkner, brother-in-law Thomas Faulkner, brother Henry Dalton, and nephew Bradley Dalton.
Left with fond and loving memories are his daughters Valerie (Lawrence Butt) Dalton and Carolyn (Greg Kilgore) Dalton who were his pride and joy and his granddaughter Cameron Mulrooney who was the light of his life. Also leaving to mourn are his cherished sisters Mary Dalton, Gladys (Leonard) Mouland, Shirley (Tony) Chard, his sister-in law Marie Dalton, brother Stephen (Faye) Dalton as well as many nieces and nephews and a circle of friends.
Ches was born in 1946 in Little Catalina, NL, and built his home on his family property near the ocean where he raised his children and lived his entire life until his stroke in mid-2019.
Ches worked at Fishery Products Intl. all his work life where he made lifelong friendships.
He loved the outdoors; cutting wood, trouting, berry-picking, tending to his yard trees and strawberry patch. He loved animals, especially birds and dogs.
He loved cooking and he loved food. He loved young children and babies and was part of many young lives. He loved Boxing and Hockey and Johnny Cash. He loved motorcycling and from a very young age, it was his only mode of transport.
Most of all he loved his girls and being “Poppy” to Cameron. His face lit up every time he saw her or there was even mention of her. He couldn’t brag enough,

Visitation will be at Strathie’s Funeral Home in Catalina on Thursday, June 24, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm and on Friday, June 25, at 2-4pm & 7-9pm.
Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, June 26, at 2pm with internment directly following at the Little Catalina United Church cemetery.
