Carstairs JackRed 2021

Red passed away at the youthful age 88 on September 21, 2021.
He lived a long and full life and often said for everyone to enjoy their time here as we only get one and it goes by quick. Born on June 8, 1933 in Eatonia, SK his first few years were on a farm near there until the family hitched up the wagon and moved to Rolling Hills AB. where they continued to farm. After leaving the farm, he worked for 47 years in the Oil and Gas Industry doing it all before starting his own company as an Oilfield Consultant. He travelled the world working on rigs and loved to tell stories of his time in the industry and his many adventures.
He met his wife, Vicky and the couple married in 1955, enjoying 42 years together raising a family and living in St. Albert since the early 1970’s. Red enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf (playing 100 rounds one year) but his favorite times were spent with family and friends sharing good times, food and a drink or two. Red was a long-time member of the local Eagles club where he enjoyed social activities with many friends and acquaintances. Those of you who know him will appreciate the dedication he showed to his family with Sunday dinners at his house for the last 20 years. He was truly our patriarch and he loved his kids, grandkids, children’s partners and close friends. Recent health issues had taken away some of his mobility, but he kept his wits and humour until his final days.
Predeceased by his father, Fred; mother, Elizabeth Page; sister, Mary and her husband Leonard Goodhart, step-grandson Andrew and his beloved wife Victoria Babiuk.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his four children, Bob, Bill, Jim (Donna), Jacquie (Warren); daughter in-law, Holly; grandchildren, Jessica, Christine (Robert) and Hannah along with step-grandchildren, Terri-Lynn (Ali), Candace (Paul), Bo (Jenna) and Bobby-Jo.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
A Visitation and gathering for a few friends and family to say goodbye has been arranged. Masking protocols and double vaccination or a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours are required to attend.
Red’s ashes will eventually make their way to the ocean in a Private Ceremony with his family as that is what he desired.
His family will never forget all the hard work, guidance and most of all the genuine care and love he provided to all of us. He truly was one of the best! In lieu of flowers or a donation to charity, get together with friends or family to enjoy each other’s company while you can and give them a hug.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Carstairs JackRed 2021..
