Moncton, NB. ~ It is with profound sadness that the family of Camille Richard announces his peaceful passing at the Villa du Repos in Moncton, New Brunswick on January 6th, 2021 at the age of 87.
Born in Acadieville, NB, he was de son of the late Joseph Richard and the late Suzanne Richard.
Camille will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years of marriage, Thelma Richard (born Babineau); his three children, Jacques Richard, Andre Richard (Sherry-Anne) and Anne Richard (Mike Ashton); his grandkids, Tori Vieira (Damion Andrew), James Richard, Jenna Richard and Nicholas Ashton; his great-grandson, Nathaniel; his sisters, Maria Richard, Imelda Fournier, Jeanne Richard; his brother, Jean Richard; his brothers-in-law, Gaétan, Marcel, Flavien and Charles Babineau; his sisters-in-law, Sr. Gertrude Babineau cnd, Marie-Anna Richard, Régina Robichaud, Francine Babineau, Jeanne Duranleau and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Camille was predeceased by his sisters, Florence Daigle and Rita Thibodeau; also by three brothers, Alyre, Ovila and Antoine.
Camille was born on April 28th, 1933 in Acadieville, New Brunswick. At the age of two, he was adopted by Livain Bordage and Philomène Babineau when his mother passed away in 1935. He always remained close to his birth family. He later moved to Moncton where he began his career at the Moncton Hospital as an orderly. He has had many roles at the hospital including ambulance driver and nurse assistant until in 1965, where he was given the opportunity to create a new Electro diagnostic (EEG) department with the Moncton Hospital. He remained as head of department until his retirement in 1992 after 36 years of service. After his retirement, he devoted his life to help other people by volunteering to the Moncton Hospital, Moncton HeadStart, Maison Nazareth, Club d’Age d’Or de NDG, Curl Moncton (Beausejour), Rogers TV, ETC.
As a devoted father, he enjoyed spending time with his family and later with his grandkids. He enjoyed the outdoors with camping and building his beloved cottage. The cottage was his heaven and place of relaxation during the summer months. He enjoyed all sports including curling, skiing and hockey. He was a coach in the Moncton Minor Hockey League where he was well known as Cam. He loved teaching kids the value of sportsmanship and teamwork in the Atom and Bantam leagues. A very tech savvy individual, his passion was keeping up to date with the latest technology in computers and programs. He loved investigating his past through genealogy programs.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of the Moncton hospital or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
