Brian McConnell 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian William McConnell, 76, of St. Albert, Alberta. Brian passed away peacefully with his kids by his side on December 7, 2021. Born in Edmonton on April 30th, 1945, he spent his childhood in Derwent, Alberta.
He is survived and loved by his children: Greg (Emma), Jan (Steph) and Jeff (Tanya); grandchildren: Bailee, Madison, Taylor, Samantha and Cameron, and his partner Nola.
Brian was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia and his parents George and Agnus
He will always be remembered for his love of a good family get together (pets included whether he liked it or not) and supervising the many meals that were cooked on his bar-b-que. Brian, aka Pops or Gramps, was larger than life to his family. He was a successful businessman, an avid golfer, a true gentleman, and a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many that crossed his path.
He taught us the value of loving those that are close to us, working hard to get where you want to be in life, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. Brian’s witty sarcasm and dry sense of humor will be missed. We will continue to honor his legacy by seizing every opportunity and living life to its fullest.
With current Covid restrictions in place, and as dad would say “play it by ear”, a celebration of life will be held in the spring/summer.
In lieu of sending flowers, please consider a donation in Brian’s name to:

  1. My deepest condolences to Brian’s family! We were classmates, team mates on the ball field, we curled together, we dated girls together. He will be missed!

  2. Our condolences to Brian’s family. Remember and cherish all the wonderful times you shared together and hold them near your heart. I too grew up and went to school with Brian. Back in the day we shared many great times together. After going our separate ways, after graduating, we reconnected in St. Albert and visited with Brian and Pat. He will be missed. RIP Brian

  3. Jeff – we are so very, very sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. He will be missed by all of us. And we will think of him at every Happy Hour! We loved his sense of humor and as you mentioned, his wry wit. Your dad was ‘one of the good ones’. Condolences to you and Tanya and the rest of your family. Love from Brent & Ellen Hodgins
