Brent Charles Barnett Saturday August 14th 2021

Brent passed away at home in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the age of 42. Beloved son of Ethel (nee Chisholm) and Barry. Loving sister of Vanessa. He will be dearly remembered by his large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many cherished friends.
Brent grew up in Leaside, going to Northlea and Leaside High School, where he was well known for his athleticism. He was a talented baseball player. He was a star pitcher and was a dedicated member of any team he was on. He loved sharing his passion for the game by coaching others. He also spent many hours on the ice playing hockey, where he was often coached by his father. His love of sports continued throughout his life, and he often wore clothing to match. He was well known for a plethora of knowledge of sport and his grasp of statistics. He collected sports memorabilia, and had a sizable baseball card collection.
During his young adulthood Brent lived in Montreal where he attended Concordia University studying Theology with a focus on Eastern Religions. He worked in the food and entertainment industry. He had a passion for food. He enjoyed planning and cooking meals and making messes while doing so. It brought him joy to share his expertise in the kitchen with his friends and family. He spent time as a DJ and enjoyed making playlists to share with others.
If you ever needed to find Brent you just had to follow the laughter. He had an infectious sense of humour, unmatched by anyone. He was a great conversationalist and could connect with people on many levels. He had a caring nature and always made the time to support others. He liked to listen and give advice and was known to spend countless hours on the phone.
Brent’s passing is a profound loss. He was truly one of a kind. He had a quick wit, was a little mischievous and a whole lot of fun. With his stellar good looks and unique sense of style he could charm all those around him. He was intelligent, intuitive, and had an unpredictable knowledge base. He could give a good hug and pay a compliment, and make anyone feel noticed and appreciated. His presence and energy will live on in the special memories we hold.
As per Brent’s wishes, cremation will take place. There are no services planned at this time. Brent’s family would like to express their thanks for all of the love and support during this difficult time.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Brent to Jays Care Foundation would be sincerely appreciated. Details to follow.
The following is a passage found in one of Brent’s many notebooks dated 2017. It is paraphrased by a friend referencing a Bruce Lee movie.
“If someone points at the moon why would you look at their finger and not the glorious beauty” ~ Bruce Lee
