Obituary of Betty Ann Richard
With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Betty Ann Richard announces her passing, which occurred on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Kennebec Manor surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 90. Born in Sus, NB on July 23, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Frances (Whelpley) Taylor
Betty was a very social person who enjoyed senior bus tours, family gatherings, visiting flea markets, and bowling. She bowled every Tuesday at Fairview Lanes in the North end, and for many years in the Senior Friendship games. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially taking them on adventures around Saint John and around New Brunswick. Betty had a great love for animals. She enjoyed everyday walks with her brother Gordon, and her beloved dog Scrappy at Rockwood Park. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. Following her retirement, Betty delighted in tending to her flower gardens. She also used her skills as a Registered Nursing Assistant volunteering in the palliative care unit.
Betty will be missed by her daughter, Patricia Denton (Wayne); grandchildren: Michael (Andrea) and Jody Melvin (Bill); great-grandchildren: Michaela, Carley, Colin, Cece and Wesley; siblings: Marion Soucy, Gordon Taylor and Kenny Taylor (Rose); as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, Betty was predeceased by her beloved partner of 27 years, Harry Ord; and her siblings: Bob, George, Margaret and Marilyn.
Betty’s family wishes to extent their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kennebec Manor for their compassionate care during her stay with them.
