It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Bernadette Margaret McCabe, age 68, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt on Sunday, July 25th at the PRHC.
Born in Peterborough on March 29, 1953, Bernadette was the loving daughter of Leo and Frances (nee Quinn) Scully. She had a successful and rewarding career with CIBC working 40 years at various positions retiring as District Vice President. She mentored many over those 40 years and was seen as a strong and determined role model and leader. She showed tireless commitment and dedication to her family and was proud of their accomplishments, treasured spending time with her grandson, adored her property on Shamrock with its lovely gardens and cherished peaceful walks with her Charlie.
Bernadette is survived by her husband, Raymond, two sons Adam (Alexandra) and Michael, daughter Andrea (Matthew) and grandson Quinn, a brother John ( Lori), and two sisters Rosemary (Howie) and Anne Marie (Mike). She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers Patrick and Timothy.
She will be fondly remembered by Carrie (Jack) Shelly (Shawn) and Marcia (Tom). She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews who always enjoyed her vibrant presence at family gatherings and trips to the cottage.
The family would like to thank the health care professionals who provided such kindness, care and support during Bernadette’s short stay in the ICU of PRHC.
Visitation will be held at Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Friday, July 30th from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Church, Downeyville on Saturday, 31st at 2:00 p.m. following current COVID-19 restrictions with overflow from the church to be accommodated by a live stream projected outdoors in a tent. Friends are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. Internment to follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
