In loving memory of Antonia (Masi) Papa, who passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Finlandia Nursing Home. Antonia was born on February 1, 1926 in the small village of Conca Casale, Italy. Former spouse of Antonio Papa who predeceased her in 2016. Loving mother of her children Elizabeth (Bill) and Frank. Loving sister of Maria Tallevi (Nello) (both predeceased), her brothers Angelo (predeceased) and baby Angelo (predeceased) and her sister in Italy Natalia Matteo (husband Eugenio). Aunt to Giancarlo, Paolo and Marco all of Italy. In 1952, Mom came to Canada with her sister Maria to begin a new life here. She worked hard to provide for her family in various capacities, housemaid, restaurants, laundry and retired from the former Peter Piper Inn having worked in the laundry there. Mom loved to garden and was a master gardener when it came to growing tomatoes and zucchini in her garden. She loved passing this knowledge to those around her and especially her neighbours, Tom and Colleen who told me they still have the grape vinesPp growing that she had bestowed on them. She also loved to cook especially lasagna. Many people were often gifted with her homemade lasagna. Mom was also deeply religious and would faithfully attend Mass at Christ the King and in the latter years when it was difficult for her to get around would faithfully watch the Daily Mass on Vision TV. On Sundays, she would watch Mass wherever she could find it on the tv dial. We would like to thank Dr. Sarah Duncan and The City of Lakes Health Team, the nurses and PSWs on the 4th Floor of HSN for their care during her stay at the hospital and Finlandia Nursing Home, Dr. Presenza, Nurses and PSWs who took good care of her in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christ the King Building Fund. We will miss you, Mom. I hope that there will be nice little garden for you to tend in heaven. And say hi to everyone!
