MacINNIS, Anna Colleen –
Age 80, East Skye Glen, Inverness Co., passed away
peacefully at home on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Born in North Sydney,
she was the daughter of the late William and Sadie (McCready)
MacIntosh. Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Donald Cecil
MacInnis; daughters, Sandra Surell, Lisa MacInnis (Lou); sons, John
MacInnis (Josie), Glenn MacInnis (Charlene); sisters, Helen (Melvin)
Boutilier, Little Pond; Florence (Junior) Bugden, Georgetown;
Marguerite (Rollie) Leyte, Millville, Frankie (Murray) Cantwell, Bras
d’Or; brothers, Norm (Dianne), London, Ont; David,
Millville; Donnie, Millville; sister-in-law, Margaret MacInnis,
Margaree. She was predeceased by daughter, Karen LeBlanc; sisters,
Mary (Carl Alderson), Yvonne (Don Cantwell); brothers, Jackie (Joan),
Bill and Ernest.
Anna was loved dearly by her many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and she had a great love of
family. She was an amazing baker and always loved to laugh. She was
the “bright light and her smile and laugh would light up a
room.” Always a positive thinker, even throughout her illness. A
great listener with understanding and caring. She always loved getting
together with people from the community to make Maragh’s and
have lots of laughs. She enjoyed making trips to Ontario to visit with
her family and her daughter Lisa came home from Ontario to look after
her mother during her illness.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday from Stewart United Church,
Whycocomagh with Rev. Jennifer Billard officiating. Burial will follow
in Skye Glen Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions a small gathering for
immediate family will follow the burial at the family residence in
Skye Glen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society, Stewart United Church or to Skye Glen Cemetery. Words

  1. Aunt Anna’s obituary is beautiful and captures everything. My condolences to everyone and sending you all a big hug. I can still hear her laughter when folks would come to Garson for a visit, sitting in the living room, having a drink and the stories would come out. Fond memories and love you all.
