Obituary
With hearts full of treasured memories, the family of the late Ann Petryshen, formerly of Sturgis, SK, is saddened to announce her passing at Echo Lodge Special Care Home, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK, on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at the age of 91 years.
Ann was born on September 20, 1930, to Wasyl and Mary (nee Petsul) Pantiuk. She was one of six children born on the family farm near Sturgis, SK, and attended Brookview school. She then ventured out into the work world as a waitress, caregiver, housekeeper, and nanny.
After living away in Victoria, BC, she moved back to Saskatchewan and met her future husband, Bill. They married and settled on a farm near Preeceville, SK, before moving to Sturgis. After 13 years of marriage, Ann became a widow and single mom to three young children.
Ann loved gardening and was always outside at sunrise watering, weeding, and tending to her vegetables. She liked traveling and going on bus tours and seeing the different scenery. She also liked reading and sewing. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Petryshen; sister, Doris Mastrachuk; and brothers, Fred and George Pantiuk.
Ann will be forever loved and remembered by her three children: Adeline (Ken) Koback of Ituna, SK, Gerald Petryshen of Burnaby, BC, and Ken Petryshen of Regina, SK; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, John Pantiuk of Preeceville, SK; and her sister, Rose (Michael) Badduke of Quill Lake, SK/Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
As per Ann’s wishes, a Private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Very Rev. Fr. J. Rac as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to a Charity of Donor’s Choice, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Ann Petryshen.
