Anke Ytsma Tuesday December 28th 2021

Anke Ytsma passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 with her children at her bedside. She was born in Zuidhorn, The Netherlands on November 17, 1932 and after living through World War II, immigrated to Canada in 1953. In Canada, she married her husband Jetze (deceased April 1999) and together, they raised a family of six children: John (deceased October 2010) (Joyce), their children Kim (Tom) and Melissa; Grace (Al), their children Jacquelyn (Jaspinder), Erin (Demian) and Michael (Carrie); Janet (Pete), their children Danae, Adam and David (deceased June 2018)(Emily); Bill (deceased May 2018) (Renita), their children Alicia (Leigh), Jason (Nicole) and Emily (Tim); Yvonne, her children Carissa and Natalie; Andrew (Ilona), their children Tiffany and Mikayla; Anke’s family is complete as well with nine great grandchildren. Dear sister of Hannie, Abillien, Mien and Jantje – sister-in-law to Alle, Gerrit, Boele and Bill (Sieny). Everyone was always welcome in Anke’s home for a cup of coffee or tea along with a cookie. She loved to work in her gardens and look after the chickens in the backyard.
We would like to especially thank the staff of Shalom Manor in Grimsby for their care and love shown to our mom for the past eight years.
A private graveside service for immediate family officiated by Rev. Peter Janssens has taken place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Stoney Creek, ON. Donations in Anke’s honour can be made to Shalom Manor.
