Amy E. Johnstone
1924-2021
Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Amy E. Johnstone passed
away on Tuesday, March 9, at Whisperwood Villa, Charlottetown. Born in
Margate, she was a daughter of the late John and Sadie (Paynter)
Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Arthur P.
Johnstone; daughter Ruth (Wayne Johnston); son David (Venessa Clyne);
grandchildren, Jennie (Toronto), Alex (Calgary), Luke (Brisbane,
Australia) and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her granddaughter
Sherri Johnston Stuart; sisters, Louise (Clarence Marchbank and Jack
Marchbank), Evelyn (Keith Warren) and brother Andrew (Enid
Johnson).
Amy’s background included farming and building a
successful business in Summerside, with Arthur. She loved baking and
sharing Island recipes and their preserves. Younger visitors referred
to her as “the cookie lady”. In retirement
she enjoyed her time in Florida and Stanley Bridge.
Resting at Davison Funeral Home, Kensington. A celebration of
life and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Geddie Memorial Cemetery Fund to
aid in monument repairs.
A special thanks to the staff of Whisperwood Villa for their
compassionate and wonderful care.
