Willis Freeman “Bill”
Keddy – 82, of Hall’s Harbour, Kings County,
passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at home. Born in Black Rock,
Kings County, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Lillian
(O’Leary) Keddy. Bill left school at the age of 14 to help
on the family farm and worked at various jobs to help support his
family due to illness. He continued farming throughout his life with
his own hobby farm. He was later employed with Standard Paving/LaFarge
for 37 years, from where he retired. He was very involved within the
community, attending dances, suppers and breakfasts and enjoyed
country music. Bill was also a regular attendee of the Centreville
Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela “Pam”
(Scott) Tipple, Hall’s Harbour; a son, Dwayne (Leanne),
Coldbrook; five grandchildren, Andrew Tipple, Aldershot; Jessica
(Ronnie) Raso, Grande Prairie, AB; Bradley Tipple (Ashley Carty),
Hall’s Harbour; Lance and Lili-Claire Keddy, both of
Coldbrook; four great grandchildren, Zoey Tipple, Desirae, Chloe and
Austin Raso; three sisters, Marguerite (Elroy) Mills, Cambridge;
Sylvia Keddy (David Hampsey), Berwick; Irma (Stephen) Lutz,
Waterville; three brothers, Garnet (Heather Bent), Burlington;
Lawrence (Brenda) and Allister (Linda), all of Black Rock; two
sisters-in-law, Alda Keddy, Middleton; Mary Keddy, Waterville; a
brother-in-law, Walter Card, Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased in 2018 by his wife of 49 years, Pauline; a son,
Edwin; twin daughters (in infancy); two sisters, Shirley Card and
Olive Crouse; two brothers, Gerald and Francis. Visitation will be
held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at
11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020, Reverend Dr. Steven B. Hopper
officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill, Kings County. A reception will follow in the Hall’s
Harbour Volunteer Fire Department. Donations in memory may be made to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Hall’s Harbour
Volunteer Fire Department or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
