Obituary
With shattered hearts we announce the peaceful passing away of Wendy Lynn Parascak (Berglund, Sanders) of Lethbridge, Alberta on November 19th, 2020 at St. Michael’s Care Centre at the age of 68. Wendy will be forever loved and remembered by her husband and best friend Rick Parascak, her children Shanon (Lance) Littlewood and Bill Sanders along with her grandchildren Austin, Kaylee and Kaitlyn Sanders. Wendy is also survived by her mother Gladys Berglund, her siblings Ron Berglund, Wayne (Rose) Berglund, Shelly (Gary) Proctor along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were loved and very important to her. Wendy is predeceased by her father Ronald Berglund as well as her first husband Tom Sanders.
Wendy had spent the majority of her life in Lethbridge. Her early endeavours found her working at Capri Bowl which brought on her enjoyment of bowling over the years. She was in many leagues and involved in multiple tournaments during that time. It was while she was there that she furthered her abilities and went on to earn her certificate in medical transcribing, thereby shifting her career into the medical world. She worked for a short time at a pharmacy before finding her home at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital in the Emergency Department as a unit clerk for the duration of her working life before finally retiring. It was there she got to know many people and succeeded in making some very special friendships along the way.
Through all the years of working, Wendy also had some wonderful hobbies, her favourites being pretty much anything crafty. She had tried them all, however the one that she never strayed far from was ceramics. She loved to paint. Her box of paints, brushes and ornaments were never far out of reach from her. That is, until she met Rick. It was then she found a whole new passion for traveling when he first introduced her to Hawaii. She absolutely adored traveling there and they went back as often as they could, enjoying the tropical paradises of several islands with each other. Even when she wasn’t there she thought about her experiences on the islands with her husband, family and friends often.
Wendy absolutely loved get togethers with family and friends. If there was a reason to invite everyone over for a gathering she would be all over it. Grey Cup was a yearly guarantee for a party where friends and family would all gather together and she would welcome everyone with big smiles, big hugs and a big heart. But in all honesty she did not need a reason, she just loved visiting with people. If you wanted to go for a drink, or go to the movies or especially just going for coffee which was her favourite. Simply sitting and visiting with you and if there was a butterhorn involved then that was pure bliss.
For these reasons we have decided to hold Wendy’s Celebration of Life during this coming summer in 2021 so that we may all gather together outside, where she liked to be surrounded by nature with friends and family with lots of laughing and hugs… lots of hugs.
Wendy had a deep passion and love for animals, especially cats. There was always one, two or four cats in the house at any time. We ask that if you wish to pay your respects to Wendy then in lieu of flowers if you would make a contribution to TheLastChanceCatRanch.com in her name. thelccr@gmail.com for more info. She would have brought them all home if she could. That was her heart, her warmth, her compassion and her legacy for which she will be eternally remembered.
