Vera Nadine Tucker Gutjahr Tuesday December 22nd 2020

The family of Vera Nadine Tucker (nee Gutjahr) wish to announce her peaceful passing on December 22, 2020 at the age of 93.
Vera’s journey began on August 10, 1927 in South River, Ontario, born to Albert and Olive Gutjahr, and in 1946 she married Bernard Tucker (predeceased in 1985). In the spring of 1952 they moved to Lively to raise their 2 children. Vera took pride in everything she accomplished and achieved in life, including her time as a Girl guide leader, her job at the local post office, and finally at the Lively Rock and Sole shoe store where she retired in (1982). She had an impeccable memory and loved to share stories of days gone by and always willing to offer words of wisdom.
Vera was an avid knitter and reader, and completed countless crossword and word search books. She enjoyed playing scrabble (but only with a dictionary, so nobody cheated), and going to bingo and the casino. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, who will carry with them countless memories of their vacations to, Florida, Mexico, Canada’s East Coast and many other mini vacations in between. Her favorite time of year was Christmas; she loved passing out the envelopes, that came with explicit instructions “this is just for to buy yourself something.” In her younger years she created countless family memories while camping at Mikisew Park in South River, Ontario.
Vera was predeceased by her only sister Verna, and her brothers Carl Gutjahr, Victor Gutjahr (Koosje) (deceased), Ross Gutjahr (Joy), and Dale Gutjahr (Nancy). She will be remembered by her brothers Joe Gutjahr (Emily) and Dean Gutjahr (Jean) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members who she loved dearly.
Vera’s greatest pride and joy was her children and grandchildren, she will be greatly missed by her son Dennis Tucker with his wife Susan, and her daughter Marilyn with her husband Brian Dunn. Vera’s memory and legacy will live on in her grandchildren Derek Tucker (Tammy), Jennifer Tucker (Jason), Bradley Tucker (Sylvie) and Kaitlyn Dunn, and she will be fondly remembered as Nanny Tucker to her great grandchildren Jessaca Tucker (Mike), Eric McAllister (Amanda), Branden Tucker (Vanessa), Alana Tucker, Jenna McAllister, Courtney Tucker, and Jacob Tucker (Kayla), as well as her 7 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she lovingly referred to as her babies.
A special thank you to the staff at Pioneer Manor Killarney wing for the wonderful and compassionate care she received as a resident there, as well as the kind Bayshore nurses who took great care of her while she was at home.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will not be a funeral service at this time, however a celebration of Vera’s life will be announced at a later date.
Donations in Vera’s name to the Northeast Cancer Center and the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
