  1. I studied with Tony way back in 1974- 1976 when he taught at Humber College in Toronto. I came across his obituary in the Globe & Mail and was filled with nostalgia. He was a wonderful guy and a superb drawing and painting teacher.

My grandmother and mom were from an area I believe not far from where he came from, Oldham, England. He had some very funny stories about English eccentrics, which cracked me up many times.

I learned a ton from him about drawing, painting and broader concerns in fine art. Lessons that still resonate with me nearly 50 years later, as I am now able to return to painting after a 19 year career as graphic designer and illustrator, then a 26 year career in 3D computer animation in my own freelance business. That’s a long haul, and he helped build the foundation for it. Thanks, Tony!

My sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues who loved him and worked with him.

    cheers,

    Mike Efford
