Obituary of Tom Smits
SMITS: Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, on Sunday, November 22, 2020, Thomas “Tom” Henricus Smits of Grand Bend, age 93. Beloved husband of 67 years to Francina “Sien” Hendrica (Martens) Smits of Grand Bend. Loving father and father-in-law of John and Rita Smits of Grand Bend, the late Harry (2013) and Connie Smits and her partner Barry of Sarnia, Peter Smits (1958), Pete and Pat Smits of Lambton Shores, Margaret and Gregg Ennett of Arnprior, Joanne and Andrew Clark of Lambton Shores. Cherished Opa of his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their families. Dear brother and brother-in-law of (Jon and Jo Smits), Leen and Schack Wydeven of Holland, (Johan and Miet Martens), (Marinus and Truus Martens), (R.C. Sister Evarista Martens “Johanna”), (Wim Martens), (Jan Martens), (Martin and Magdalena and Anastasia Martens), (Tony and Martha Martens), Marius and Ria Martens of London, (Marietje and Jan Guns), (Arnold) and Anne Martens of Exeter. Tom will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Johannes and Johanna (vanDijk) Smits. The Smits Family will receive Friends and Family who wish to pay their respects for a Drive-By Visitation at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, on Thursday, November 26, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Private Family Funeral Service. Interment the Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
