Thomas Tommy Ross 1956 2020

Obituary for
Thomas “Tommy” Ross
At home on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Thomas Malcolm Ross of Bainsville; age 63 years. Loving father of John, Campbell, and Finlay. Beloved former husband of Laurie Anne (nee Hodgins). Cherished son of Rhoda Ross (nee Westlake) of Courtenay, B.C., and the late John M. Ross (Bainsville). Dear brother of Lynn Ross (Garry Murdock), Beth Rees (Murray) both of Courtenay B.C., John “Murdie” Ross of Cornwall, and Lyle Ross (Moira) of Bainsville. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Tommy, with his quick, charming smile and sparkling blue eyes, never took the conventional path, but was always the captain of his own “chalop.” A true Glengarry boy, with exceptional hockey skills, he loved watching his own boys at the rink. Tommy was never afraid to offend anyone, especially if you were on the St. Lawrence River at his “honey holes.” Tommy loved a good fish fry, the hunting camp with his buddies, a good novel, and the history channel. Later in life, Tommy grew to love painting nature scenes on wood. Tommy’s passion for hunting and fishing is legendary, but his proudest legacy was his boys. Whether walking in the woods or scouting a new spot, Tommy always loved spending time with his boys. During his final years, Tommy’s health limited his ability to fully engage in his passions. Still, with the help of his nephew, Mackenzie Petrie, who shared the love of fishing on the river, he was able to enjoy and pass on his knowledge to the next generation of fishing guides. TR will be fondly remembered by many that walked along his path. Tommy loved the outdoors and the wonder of nature, he was a long-time member of the (former) Lancaster Fish and Game Club, now Glengarry Fish and Game Club. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Glengarry Fish and Game Club would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Tommy, a tree will be planted in a Memory Woods. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629).

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Thomas Tommy

Dear Ross family, Such fond memories of you all, your home in Bainsville where I had my first sleepover, and my first boat ride along the water at your summer cottage? and Lynn, my first friend in high school and Tommy the teasing brother, and Rhoda, your mom, always welcoming and kind. Deepest sympathies on the loss of Tommy, always a character , lots and lots to remember. Sounds like he left quite a legacy.
