TEATHER Eileen —

TEATHER, Eileen

Eileen Teather passed away on January 30, 2020 at the age of 85. She is survived by her loving daughters: Diane (Dave), Debby (Wayne) and Denise; sons: Donald (Pauline) and Dean (Linda); grandchildren: Danna, Dana, Lyder, Harmony, Aislyn, Ashley, Josh, Heidi, Hanna, and Tara; and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Dorothy and Mary Ann; brothers: Jim, Herb, and Ed; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank; sisters Bernice and Audrey; and brother Lorne who passed away on the same day, January 30, 2020.
Eileen and her family moved from Regina, Saskatchewan in the mid 40’s. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Frank Teather, and they were then married in 1952. With a lot of hard work and dedication, Eileen and Frank bought the family orchard of 11 acres in the Rutland bench area of Kelowna. The farm provided a living for Frank and Eileen as well as a beautiful place for family to come together for weekly dinners, holidays and events. There was always the smell of fresh baked bread floating through the house and at least half a dozen pies for Sunday dinners. The beautiful memories created at the farm remain in all of us. Eileen spent much of her time looking after all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was like a mother to so many others that were often there. After Frank passed away in 2006, Eileen’s life changed significantly as she moved to an apartment on her own. A very social and a spirited person, she made close friends who she often travelled with. During this time, she spent her winters with her sister Dorothy in Arizona. As time went on, Eileen started to experience health issues that required a move to The Dorchester. Here she spent much of her time socializing, playing bingo, and she wouldn’t dream of missing the daily card games. The last year of her life became more difficult due to deteriorating health; however, Eileen continued to attend family get-togethers and events regularly and was a pillar of the family. She found great joy in spending time with her many great grandchildren and babies. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
