Obituary
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful Shirley Ann Dufour on Monday, November 2nd; she peacefully passed away after a courageous fight with cancer. Shirley grew-up in Duck Lake, Sask., of William Howard Perret born in Geneva, Switzerland, and Leona Verna Stuttz, born in Butte, Montana. She went on to nursing school in Prince Albert, Sask and received her Diploma from Holy Family Hospital. Shirley was a working mom who raised three daughters and volunteered as a girl guide leader. Shirley and Owen always wanted the best for their girls. When the girls became teenagers, Shirley opened a clothing store in High River called The Fourth Dimension. She was a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge, and board games with family and friends. An accomplished cook and incredible host, we all benefited so much! After 84 years, she has left a big hole in all our lives.
Shirley sent us this wonderful message before she passed: “It is with mixed emotions that I wish to announce that I have moved on to my spiritual home. During my time on earth I have met some great people and made many good friends who taught me much in my journey in this life. The happiest time was bringing up my three daughters and they have made me proud to be their mom. After 44 years in a very happy and memorable marriage I lost my husband Owen Dufour to cancer. Life gave me a second chance at happiness and during these last eight years, I have been married to a kind and loving man, Mervin ART Foss. Together we travelled to many continents, enjoyed golf games and our winters in Phoenix. Take a moment out of your busy day to admire a sunset or listen to a bird sing!”
