Obituary for
Serge Parenteau
PARENTEAU, Serge
It is with great sorrow that our family announces his passing in Sudbury on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the age of 72 years. Son of the late Jean-Paul and late Rita (née Lemay) Parenteau. Beloved husband of Helen Parenteau (née Majercik). Loving father of Dennis Parenteau (Tammy) and Kary-Anne Vellow (Todd). Dear brother to André Parenteau. Predeceased by his sister Francine Parenteau. Cherished grandfather to Jaden, Julia and Emma. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews and also by the Jacob family of Val D’Or. Serge was born and raised in Val d’Or Quebec and moved to Sudbury in the early 70’s where he met and soon married his wife of 48 years, Helen. He will be remembered as a hard-working, good natured man who was dedicated to his family and community. Serge worked for A&P Grocery Stores for over 30 years then went on to work at Valley Bingo, retiring in 2018. He spent many years volunteering his time as a coach and board member for Valley East Minor Baseball and also served as President of the Valley Bingo Charity Association for several years. He was an avid sports fan and loved everything from the Blue Jays and watching football on Sundays to watching his children and grandchildren play baseball and soccer. Above all else his family gave him the greatest joy and sense of accomplishment. The values he taught us and the love he shared will be with us forever. Due to the pandemic a private service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
