Death notice for the town of: Toronto, Province: Ontario
A wonderful man and teacher who made high school tolerable for a young teenage boy. He was quick to laugh and he was loved by all that knew him. May he Rest In Peace. My condolences to his friends and family.
I had Mr. Adams as an English teacher during my years at Birchmount Pack CI in Scarborough. He was one of those teachers that you look back on and think, ” I do this now because of him”. I still recall many of our discussions after class and often thought of Russell during my adult life. My deepest sympathies go to Russell’s family and friends.
A truly talented educator, mentor and dear friend to all his students. He shall remain in our hearts and memory forever. May his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know him, as to know him was to admire and love him.
He was a dear man, and a teacher who had time for every student. Rest well, sir, and thank you.
I echo the same sentiments. I too had him as my English teacher in the mid 80’s. He was pure class , cared about his students across the board , and he was probably the sharpest dressed person I’ve ever known. I recall before I went on to university he caught up with me in our library and gave me the heads up that it would be a change from high school and to make sure I worked hard. I have often recalled this and how it added to my successes in life. RIP Mr Adams !
Mr Adams was a beacon to me in the late 1960’s when he showed me the value of creative disruption and creativity during the height of the social unrest of the time. It was he who made me feel comfortable in the hostile environment of a state high school.
Thoughtful, generous and compassionate he always had time for me and my questions. He was quietly encouraging of my own creative ambitions. I owe him dearly. He is missed. RIP
Mr. Adams was a great English teacher. I had him for grade 12 English in 1985. We had to do a soliloquy in front of the class for MacBeth and I was really shy back then. Mr. Adams understood how difficult it was for me, and he let me say the soliloquy in the hall, just me and Mr. Adams.
“Out, out, brief candle. Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.”
You’ll be missed Mr. Adams.
Huge influence on me becoming an English teacher. Vale to remarkable teacher! Gerard Cleveland.
