It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Alper (née Marcus) at the age of 100. Predeceased by her husband Hy, brother Albert Marcus and sister Ettie Marcus. Loving mother to Laura (Laszlo), Teresa (Steven) and David (Maria) and devoted grandmother to Miriam (Nadia), Mathieu (Jennifer), Marc and Maya. Adoring great-grandmother to Sylvie Hy.
Rose will be missed by her family and friends, many of whom were like family to her. Rose leaves as her legacy a lifelong commitment to social justice and activism. She made notable contributions to community life and forged strong friendships through volunteer work with Planned Parenthood and Breast Cancer Action Montreal. She was a role model to many.
Donations in Rose’s memory can be made to a community organization of your choice.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at a later date.
