Ronald Frederick Perry Saturday April 25th 2020

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Ronald Frederick Perry, 82, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on April 25th, 2020.
Ron was born in Central Chebogue on May 5th, 1937 to Walter and Ruth (Lewis) Perry. He was the eldest of six children. As a teenager, Ron and his siblings could be found at Beaverdam Days offering pony rides with the family ponies. He also drove a bakery truck for the family bakery, Perry’s Bakery. Ron was a farmer and he worked with his grandfather Lawrence, his father Walter, and most recently with his nephew, Trevor on Perrydale Farm. Much of his farming years consisted of keeping sheep on many of the Tusket Islands. Many happy times were spent in the summers shearing sheep on these islands.Ron will be greatly missed by his wife Gloria (Swim) and son Andrew. Together, Ron and Gloria worked tirelessly to create a loving home for Andrew. He is also survived by his sister Rosalie Selwyn-Smith of Lower Onslow, brothers Doug (Zella) of Wallace and Thomas (Hazel) of Central Chebogue, sister-in-law Edith of Vernon River, PEI; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.Ron was predeceased by his infant son Russell, sister Virginia Kleiner, brother Robert Perry, as well as nephews Wade, Michael and Jim. Ron was a founding member and past president of Life Skills, member of the Cattlemens’ Association, Federation of Agriculture, and Chebogue Heritage Society and helped out with Special Olympics.Ron was very knowledgeable about local and family history. He enjoyed sharing stories and had a great memory for recalling dates and events. Family flowers only, please.
