Obituary of Richard Michael Ball
Richard “Rick” Michael Ball, 71 of Kentville passed away September 12, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Kentville, he was the son of the late Wilson and Annette (Aymar) Ball.
Rick served with the Militia for fourteen years in the West Nova Scotia Regiment, retiring with a Sergeant’s rank. A man of strong faith, Rick was a devote member of the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Rick had a kind and loving heart, was a tireless volunteer, and he was a member of the Kentville Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He was a large supporter of many charities.
He is survived by his brothers David (Sheila), Chipman Corner; Stephen, Halifax; Peter (Cathy), Kentville; and Christopher (Donna), Truro; sister Michelle Ball, Halifax; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Rick was predeceased by sister-in-law Valeria Ball (Stephen).
Cremation has taken place and a Private Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville with Father John MacPherson officiating. COVID restrictions will apply. He will be laid to rest in the Serenity Gardens Cemetery, Centreville. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
