Le Clair, Rachel
74 years, passed peacefully on Thursday December 24, 2020 at Southwood Lakes Extendicare. Beloved wife of Ronald Le Clair who she met at the age of 15 and married in 1964. Cherished mother of Ron Le Clair (Shelagh) and Jamie Le Clair. Adored Nanny of Andre Le Clair (Chelsea), Jacques Le Clair (Laura) and Michel “Micha” Le Clair. Survived by her brother Alex Hunter. Predeceased by her parents Rachel and Alexander Hunter. Rachel was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Windsor Ontario at the age of 2. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother and the absolute best grandmother. In 1972 she was an original hire at the new Sears store at the Devonshire Mall where she was a loyal employee for over 30 years. Rachel and Ron called LaSalle their home making many friends with neighbors and dedicating their lives to the community, including being a director with Sandwich West Minor Hockey together with her husband, fundraising through the Grand of the Month Club with draws every month at the River Canard Knights of Columbus Hall. Her true calling came when her first grandchild was born, she spent countless hours with her grandkids with the fondest memories being decorating the Christmas tree, painting Easter eggs and spoiling the boys with Dunkaroos. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling taking many bus trips with friends and truly enjoyed spending every February in Spain for 15 consecutive years where she and Ron made many friends. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. “Goodbye my dear, love you to the moon and back.” A special thank you to the dedicated caregivers at Extendicare Southwood Lakes and the many PSWs who extended her stay at home.
