Obituary for
Paul Walter Hawryshko
June 29, 1941 – November 29, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband Paul Hawryshko on November 29, 2020, at the age of 79 years.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Pat; two sons, John (Jody), Stephen (Ian); three loving grandchildren, Dylan, Ardyn, and Kayla. He is survived by his nieces, Mary Anne (Warren), Cathy (Peter), nephew, Michael (Susan) and their children, as well as many cousins in Canada, Poland, and France.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, Katherine (1997), Alex (1984); by his brother, Peter (1979); sister-in-law, Doreen(2008); as well as his beloved Shelties, Whitney and Tina.
Paul’s parents moved to Canada from Ukraine in 1927. They were married in 1928 and later had two sons Peter and Paul. Paul was born in Mundare on the feast of St. Peter and Paul on June 29, 1941.
In 1961 he met his beloved wife Pat and they were married on October 19, 1963. They had two wonderful sons: Stephen born in 1965 and John in 1967. Paul was a loving husband and father and always brought joy to his family.
Paul worked with the Federal Government, the City of Edmonton, and the CSU 52. He was well-liked by his colleagues and union Brothers and Sisters. Paul really enjoyed his career and working with great people. One of the highlights during his career was playing Santa Clause at the Union’s kids Christmas Party.
Paul enjoyed participating in many different sports. He also enjoyed coaching his son’s various soccer teams. Paul always said he rather participate in sports than spectate.
Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. When he and his wife retired they bought a 5th wheel and traveled across Canada and the States. His favorite trip was when they went to Paris and ballooned over the countryside vineyards.
Paul truly enjoyed food both eating and cooking. Paul was known as a great cook and was often found in the kitchen making splendid dishes. He loved eating at restaurants with family and friends and always knew the owners and staff at each of his favorite restaurants.
In recent years, Paul’s greatest joy was watching his grandchildren Dylan, Ardyn, and Kayla play sports.
Paul would want to thank everyone for bringing joy to his life, for all your friendship, smiles, and laughter. We know he is looking down on us saying “no crutches, no pain and I love you all.”
The Family wishes to express enormous gratitude to all who have reached out during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations: Alzheimer Society of Alberta & NWT, #306, 10430 – 61 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6H 2J3.
