Obituary for Murray McAllister
Murray McAllister of Corunna and formally of Port Lambton passed away with family at his side at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia on October 22, 2020 at the age of 81. Murray was the son of David and Cora (Strangway) McAllister. Beloved husband of Barbara (Barnes) for 55 years. Loving father to Bruce (Lisa), Tracy and Brian (Loni). Dear grandfather to Caden, Brody, Derek and Hailey. Brother of Betty (Bill) Huebert. Brother in law to Gary (Josephine) Barnes and Janet (Dennis) Seithel. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Murray was a farmer and teacher in Lambton County and was always active in the community receiving the outstanding citizen of the year award for his service in 2016-17. Murray served with the Port Lambton Athletic Association and was Captain of the Port Lambton Fire Department for many years. After retirement, Murray spent his time volunteering at the Sombra Museum and was a member of the St. Clair Township Heritage Committee. At his request, there will not be a public service held at this time due to Covid as Murray wanted to keep family and friends safe. Hopefully a celebration of life can take place when it is safe to do so. Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME. If desired, donations in memory of Murray can be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia-Lambton or to the Sarnia and District Humane Society.
