Obituary of Mary Joyce Perra
Mary “Joyce” Perra
July 1, 1925 – November 1, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our mother Mary “Joyce” Perra on November 1, 2020. Our mother was born on July 1, 1925 to James and Dorothy Moulding in Hexham, England in the county of Northumberland. Joyce the beloved wife of Majella Perra predeceased in 2004, loving mother of Veronica (Jim), Frank (Isobel), John (Leona), Teresa (Dale), Anzele (Kelly). Loved by her grandchildren Adam (Nicole), Angela (Darren), Andrew, Blaine (Robyn), Cindy (Dusty), Rodney (Richelle), Joanne (Allan), Robert, Nelson (Karine), Ashley, Brittney (Jodie). Loved, also, by her great grandchildren Josee (Regan), Elise (Sam), Shelby (Andrew), Zachary (Tianda), Lindsey (Matt), Rendall, Bryson (Cat), Morgan, Sean, Preston, Kali, Mason, Leita, Ethan, Alexandre, and Ty; and by her great great grandchildren Ella and Dillan.
At the age of 19 she married Majella Perra, a young sailor on leave from his naval ship during the Second World War. In 1944, shortly before the war ended, Mom travelled to Canada, along with several other war brides, and lived with her French speaking in-laws in Montmartre, Saskatchewan until our father returned from the war in 1945. Once home from the war, Mom and Dad moved to Forest Gate, where they farmed until 1978 before retiring to Christopher Lake. In 2014, Mom moved to Warman to be closer to family. Our mother was devoted to her faith in God and lived her life accordingly. She took great pride in raising family, never shy of working hard or lending a hand to a neighbor. She relished spending time (laughing and playing) with her grandchildren. She loved walking and baking. She could bake an apple or berry pie like no one else and could out walk most until the grand age of 94. Our mother enjoyed music, and with our father as her partner, she loved to dance. She will be deeply missed by her family and we will be forever grateful for a lifetime of memories with which she gifted us.The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Diamond House Care Home in Warman for the wonderful compassionate care our mother received while a resident.
